About Super Reel Travel

Discover the world through video

We are building the travel app we wanted ourselves: one place to find somewhere worth going, plan it, share it and book it, told in the medium people already trust: video.

The Super Reel team in Manchester

The problem

A trip lives in six places at once

Travel is traditionally done across many fragmented platforms, where inspiration is trapped on TikTok and Instagram, planning scattered across Notes and WhatsApp, and booking buried across legacy platforms including Expedia and OpenTable, with no connection across any of it.

The future of travel

One seamless experience

Super Reel Travel is a video-first app that brings discovery, trip planning, collaboration and booking into one place.

01

Discovery

A feed of real short-form video from real places, instead of a search box and a wall of stock photography.

02

Trip planning

Anything worth doing saves straight into a trip, laid out day by day, without leaving the app.

03

Collaboration

Share a trip and the people coming with you can see it and shape it alongside you.

04

Booking

The thing you watched is the thing you book, in the place you found it.

Wanda, on top of the feed

An AI travel assistant sits on top of the feed, letting you ask questions, refine ideas, and turn what you are watching into a real, bookable trip.

Our story

How Super Reel Travel came about

  1. Early 2024

A fashion app that worked like a feed

I was introduced to the team building Upstream, the world’s first music-inspired fashion app. The concept was simple: up-and-coming artists wore the clothes and posted about them on social media, and young people could search and scroll for those exact pieces through video.

A small monthly subscription meant an item would land on your doorstep each month, based on what you’d picked, and at the end of the month you’d send it back, or keep streaming, for something new.

The Upstream app, shopping through video.
  2. The post

A question I could not answer

Are you still using Google to research your holiday? Why not use TikTok?

Around the same time, an old friend building a TikTok-powered listening service under his company, Shogglebox, posted something on LinkedIn. It was aimed at no one in particular. It landed squarely on me.

  3. The assumption

    What I thought TikTok was

My picture of TikTok, until then, went no deeper than the ’80s Dance Challenge set to Bronski Beat’s Smalltown Boy, or the Ice Bucket Challenge. Dancing parents, viral moments, nothing more. I was far from right.

  4. Tavira

    Three days in southern Portugal

Prompted by his post, I searched three days in Tavira. What came back stopped me: nothing was bookable, but the sheer volume of video content gave a far better sense of the place than any search engine with static images ever had.

What to expect, and above all, the vast beaches and sandbanks along a quiet stretch of coast that I have since learned people call the Portuguese Maldives.

Tavira, the beaches and sandbanks. The shot that made the case.
  5. The idea

    The lightbulb moment

Why has no one built a travel discovery app around video, to replace the search-box platforms that have barely changed in almost thirty years? Static images and dense text are no way to sell someone a dream experience. There had to be a better way to show it.

  6. Today

And that is exactly what we built

Super Reel Travel exists to close the gap between searching for a holiday and actually seeing it, so people can experience their future trip before it happens, and every journey begins with anticipation.

Questions, answered

ReelCreator is the marketplace behind Super Reel Travel. Local creators film real venues in exchange for the experience, and every reel goes straight into the app for travellers planning a trip.

Yes, for both sides. Creators are gifted the experience instead of being paid up front, and venues never pay to be featured. It's free to join and free to be matched.
